Statement of Maine Law through its Task Force on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
On Monday, January 17, 2022, we will pause to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on what would have been his 93rd birthday.
Now, more than ever, Dr. King’s words resonate with us as our society continues to face issues of racial injustice, voter suppression, and economic inequality:
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
As lawyers, we can and must play a key role in creating meaningful change to help support equality in the enactment, application, and enforcement of the law. We must be vigilant in our efforts to eradicate racism and injustice “anywhere.”
We encourage you to engage with Dr. King and his work.
