The work of a law student can be intellectually challenging and rewarding. It can also be demanding and stressful. At Maine Law, we are deeply committed to student wellness. We have programming starting at Orientation and running throughout the year.

Health and Counseling Services

Maine Law students can access a range of services through the University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) at USM. UHCS provides health care, including wellness exams, lab services, immunizations, primary care, women’s health screening, birth control, STD testing, as well as individual and group counseling, to students taking 6 credits or more.

Additional resources for those affected by recent events

In the wake of the tragic attacks of October 25 in Lewiston, we recognize that students may need additional support right now. Please follow the link below for a list of on-campus and local resources available to help with mental health in the long or short term.

Silvercloud

SilverCloud is an online mental health resource available to students, staff, and faculty. The program offers a set of lessons and tools based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).  Results indicate SilverCloud provides clinically significant results in helping people manage:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • sleep issues/insomnia
  • stress
  • COVID-19

The SilverCloud website will prompt users to take a quiz in order to deliver the correct and most clinically appropriate program. This is a flexible option that can serve users experiencing mild to moderate symptoms. Each module takes roughly 40 minutes and automatically saves progress, so the modules can be completed at the user’s own pace. A referral from a mental health or medical professional is not required to use this free online service.
