Research Blog

Jessica Feinberg is a nationally recognized expert in family law and gender and sexuality law. She has a proven track record of excellence in both teaching and scholarship. She teaches introductory and advanced family law courses, elder law, and contracts. Her scholarship focuses on the law’s treatment of intimate and familial relationships, with a focus on LGBTQ+ individuals and their families. She is an active scholar with a distinguished history of publications.

Professor Feinberg joined the faculty at the University of Maine School of Law in August 2020. Prior to joining Maine Law, she was a professor at Mercer Law School for nine years. She also completed a teaching fellowship at Tulane University Law School and served as a visiting assistant professor at DePaul University College of Law, where she taught in the Criminal Appeals and Death Penalty clinics.

Professor Feinberg earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Boston University. She earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from Washington University School of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor on the Washington University Law Review. Following law school, she clerked for Judge Michael Murphy on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
