Erika joined Maine Law after a decade at the U.S Department of Justice, where she worked as an appellate attorney and served as the law clerk coordinator for her office, part of the DOJ’s Environmental & Natural Resources Division. Her work took her around the country, where she argued in several U.S. Courts of Appeals, representing the federal government in a wide variety of environmental, land use, Fifth Amendment takings, and natural resources cases. Before joining DOJ, Erika served as law clerk to Judge Nancy Firestone of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C. Her own path through law school–including as an intern for a nonprofit, a law professor’s research assistant, a summer associate at a large law firm, a legal extern for a federal agency, and a clinical law student–helps her advise Maine Law students through a wide variety of opportunities that will prepare them for practice.

Erika received her B.A. from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her J.D., cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center. On weekends, you’ll find her (depending on the season) hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, or slowly updating her old house.
