The University of Maine School of Law is physically located on the Portland campus of the University of Southern Maine (USM), and we share some student services.
Health and Counseling Services, Health Insurance
Maine Law students can access a range of services through the University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) at USM. UHCS provides health care, including wellness exams, lab services, immunizations, primary care, women’s health screening, birth control, and STD testing to students taking 6 credits or more. Students taking 3-5 credits may opt to pay the health fee during the first four weeks of each semester. A summer health fee or a fee-for-service arrangement provides health care for students who are taking summer courses or have pre-registered for fall.
The University of Maine System requires proof of health insurance as a condition of enrollment for all Maine Law students taking 6 credits or more. In conjunction with this, a Student Health Insurance Policy (SHIP) is available.
Sullivan Recreation and Fitness Complex
Just a short walk from the Maine Law building, the Sullivan Recreation and Fitness Complex at USM is a multipurpose facility designed with your fitness, recreation, and wellness in mind. The complex houses the main gym, comprised of three basketball courts, three racquetball courts, squash court, and two multipurpose rooms. Students may also participate in a multitude of classes offered by the Sullivan Complex including yoga, aerobics, and martial arts.
