Library Hours For The Public

Patrons from the public may request an appointment to enter the library for research purposes only.

  1. Request an appointment by emailing lawlibrary@maine.edu. Please request an appointment. Until the fall semester begins Library hours are: Monday – Thursday 9 am to 4 pm and Friday 9 am – 12 noon. Inclement weather may impact hours. You can check the Maine Law Storm line at 207.780.4666
  2. Appointments are limited to two hours.

Please do not hesitate to email the Library with any questions. The Library staff is available Monday – Friday during regular business hours.

Yes. If you would like to borrow, you may obtain a Library card free of charge. Detailed information about policies on borrowing, hours, and services.

The Library offers Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services to the Law School Community, alumni, and attorneys in Maine. Public visitors should use their local library Interlibrary Loan service. Maine Law alumni and attorneys, should complete the online request form for books or request form for articles. To view charges for ILL visit the fee schedule.

Many databases are limited to the faculty, students, and staff of the Law School. Contact the reference desk with questions.

You may renew Library Books online using My Library Account. See Library Policies.

The Law Library does not have research assistants available.  The purpose of the library is to support the academic and research needs of the law school.

The Circulation Desk is staffed when the library is open to the public. Please call 207.780.4350. Patrons must obtain a Garbrecht Law Library card to check out books.
