Is the library open to the public?

Yes, we are open to the public. If you would like to borrow, you may obtain a borrowing card free of charge. You will need to purchase a GUESTcard to photocopy or print from the public access machines. This card can also be your borrowing card. Please let the circulation attendant know if you wish to do so. Click on the links for information about Policies on borrowing, hours, and services.

How can I find out if the library has a particular book or periodical?

Search URSUS, the Library Catalog or contact the Reference Desk at 207-780-4351 or lawref@maine.edu

Does the library participate in Interlibrary Loan?

The Library offers interlibrary loan services to the Law School Community, alumni and attorneys in Maine. To obtain material through Interlibrary Loan (ILL), complete the online request form. To view charges for ILL visit the fee schedule.

What databases to I have access to?

Specific databases are limited to the faculty, students and staff of the Law School. These databases include Westlaw and LexisNexis. Other databases may be accessed through Mariner.

How do I renew my book online?


Visit the Library Home page and click on View Patron Record. Select Circulation Record and follow the steps from there.

Does the Library have legal research assistants available?

No, the purpose of the library is to support the academic mission of the law school.
