Professor Charles Norchi elected to the Executive Council of the Society of Policy Scientists

Professor Charles NorchiCharles Norchi, the Benjamin Thompson Professor of Law at Maine Law, was recently elected to the Executive Council of the Society of Policy Scientists. The purpose of the Society is to advance knowledge and practice in the policy sciences in the service of human dignity for all.

Established in 1995, the Society of Policy Scientists encourages and supports research, practice, and education in the policy sciences; disseminates knowledge and information for members and non-members through various means of communication; conducts an Annual Institute; recognizes outstanding contributions to the policy sciences; and funds activities for such purposes through membership dues, gifts, grants, contracts, and enterprises.

Professor Norchi teaches and writes in the fields of Law of the Sea, International Law, Maritime Law, and International Human Rights. At Maine Law, he directs the Center for Oceans & Coastal Law and the Graduate Law Programs. He was awarded the Arctic Fulbright to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iceland.  In this position, he engages in Arctic maritime research and teaches at the Universities of Iceland and Akureyri. Professor Norchi holds an A.B. from Harvard College, a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University Law School, and an LL.M. and a J.S.D. from Yale Law School.
