Maine Law Alum Agent to Olympic Athletes

Peter Carlisle '94 has been at the forefront of the booming action sports industry for more than a decade.  Currently best known as the agent for Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian athlete. Peter’s career began in 1996 when he set up his own sports-management agency, Carlisle Sports Management, representing snowboarders. 

In 2001, Peter sold his company to Octagon, a global sports, entertainment and marketing firm, with whom he has gone on to become one of the top Olympic agents in the world.   Peter is known as a personable and cerebral agent offering the combination of strong client management with a passion for marketing athletes in unique sports, earning him high praise across the industry.  During the course of his career Peter has revolutionized sports management and successfully created national partnerships between his clients and corporations, including the largest ever multi-year athlete Olympic endorsement deals.

In addition to representing Olympian swimmers, Peter has also represented four snowboarders who won medals at the 2002 Winter Olympics - Kelly Clark, Ross Powers, Danny Kass and Chris Klug. 

Peter is a member of both the State Bar Associations for Maine and New Hampshire and has served as an adjunct sports law professor at both Maine Law and the University of New Hampshire.
