Intellectual Property Law Clinic received certification from the US Patent and Trademark Office

The Intellectual Property Law Clinic received certification from the US Patent and Trademark Office allowing students to practice trademark and patent law before the agency. Maine's Clinic is one of only six programs nationwide to receive this certification and one of only four schools that received recognition in both the patent and trademark fields. Our selection was based on a highly competitive application process open to law schools across the country. Leonard Agneta, director of the Maine Patent Program, took the lead on the application and deserves credit for our successful submission. Len, Rita Heimes, Willis Higgins and Tom Maas obviously impressed the USPTO with their qualifications, and our IP Clinic curriculum was compelling. Thanks, too, to Nicole Vinal and Kathryn Masters, who keep the program operating smoothly. Congratulations to a great team! Following is the link to the USPTO press release:
