Bullying Prevention Training Institute
The goal of this week-long training institute is to prepare participants to coordinate a comprehensive, research-based bullying prevention program in their districts. Participants will learn the dynamics of bullying behavior and the systems needed to respond effectively to reduce its frequency. The institute trainers will disseminate research-based bullying prevention strategies, discuss how to develop and implement a comprehensive program, and include action planning on how best to utilize the information in each district. Participants will learn how to create and maintain effective work teams for bullying prevention. The institute has two tracks: a three day track for those planning to implement a bullying prevention program, including members of school coordinating committees; and a five-day track for those with some experience who will be training school staff in bullying prevention strategies. Participants in the five-day track will practice presenting the material so they can lead appropriate staff development programs in their districts.
This institute will assist your school or district in implementing the bullying and harassment prevention policy now required by Maine law.
Participants will receive a Bullying Prevention Manual as part of the institute materials.
CEU's from the University of Southern Maine will be available.
