Charles H. Norchi is Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Marine Law Institute. Professor Norchi teaches Public International Law, Marine Law and Comparative Law as well as advanced seminars in those fields. His current research projects are in the areas of Law and Nation-building, International Maritime Boundary Delimitation, and Maritime Port Law. Professor Norchi has consulted in more than two dozen countries, primarily on behalf of International Organizations and United Nations agencies. He has extensive experience in Afghanistan and has recently worked in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Professor Norchi manages comparative marine law projects with the Center for Maritime and Ocean Law at the University of Nantes, France through the Maine Law School French Law program; with the Hong Kong Centre for Maritime Law and Transport; and with the International Maritime Law Institute in Malta. Professor Norchi serves as Research Fellow in the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University; as Treasurer of the Admiralty and Maritime Law Section of the American Association of Law Schools; Fellow of the Explorers Club; and as a Member of the Executive Council of the Society of Policy Scientists. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) degree from Harvard University, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, has studied at Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) in France and the Institut de hautes ètudes internationales in Geneva, Switzerland; holds a Masters of Law (LL.M.) and a Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D.) from Yale Law School.
