Professor Petruccelli has a longstanding relationship with the Law School. He served as Professor of Law, 1968-1975; Lecturer, 1975-1979; and Adjunct Professor, 1979-Present. His course offerings have included Civil Procedure, Criminal Law, Evidence, Contracts, Commercial Law, Bankruptcy, Torts, Constitutional Law, Copyrights, and The Legal Process.

Professor Petruccelli is a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, and is listed in Best Lawyers in America. He has served as a member of the Grievance Commission of the Board of Overseers of the Bar, 1986-1994 (Vice Chairman, 1989; Chairman, 1990-1991), the United States District Court Civil Justice Advisory Committee, the Maine Bar Foundation Board of Directors (1984-1988), the Maine Criminal Law Revision Commission (1972-1975), and the Maine Criminal Law Advisory Commission (1976-1983). He is a member of the Cumberland County (Chairman, 1981-1982; Court Liaison Committee), and Maine State Bar Associations.
