Following his graduation from the University of Maine School of Law in 1986, Jim began his legal career with the United States Department of Justice, Tax Division through the Attorney General's Honors Program. Assigned to the Tax Division's Criminal Section, Jim investigated and prosecuted several complex criminal tax cases in the Districts of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, the Northern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, the Eastern District of Virginia, the Western District of Tennessee and the Southern District of Florida.
Jim returned to Portland in 2004 to join the U.S. Attorney's Office where he serves as the Health Care Fraud Coordinator. He currently prosecutes health care fraud, tax fraud and federal program fraud.
