Ocean and Coastal Law Journal: Submit an Article

The Editorial Board of the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal is currently accepting article submissions from scholars and practitioners addressing issues such as maritime spatial planning, marine resource and fisheries regulation, offshore alternative energy development, coastal zone management, international maritime boundaries, and other related subjects.

The Ocean and Coastal Law Journal, affiliated with the Marine Law Institute at the University of Maine School of Law in Portland, Maine, is the only law review in the United States wholly dedicated to promoting the discussion of domestic and international issues of public law related to the oceans and coasts.  Issuing two student-edited volumes per year for over two decades, our editorial teams put great time, effort, and care into ensuring that the production of a final article of high quality is a rewarding experience for each author.

In October 2009, we had the pleasure and honor of helping to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the International Court of Justice’s decision in the Gulf of Maine case.  Pieces emanating from that conference were published in our Spring 2010 book, 15 OCLJ No. 2, and our interest in expanding the international reach of the journal continues to grow.

We have signed all our authors and will not be able to consider any new submissions for our Spring 2011 symposium issue (16 OCLJ 2) on the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill. Submissions for potential publication in our Fall 2011 issue (17 OCLJ 1) are welcome at any time until the book is filled.

Questions and articles may be submitted to the attention of the Executive Editor at oclj@usm.maine.edu.  Articles should follow Bluebook citation format and should be submitted along with a résumé or CV, by e-mail attachment in Microsoft Word, or by regular mail at:
