Moot Court

moot court

A formal moot court program is available to selected students based on an appellate competition which evaluates written and oral skills. Members of the second-year Moot Court Board assist in coaching first-year students in their moot court arguments, and sponsor such events as the Faculty Argument and the Prize Argument. In the third year, Moot Court teams represent the school in a number of interschool competitions. The success of Maine Moot Court teams in recent years has been extraordinary, with first-place finishes in the Pace Environmental Moot Court competition, the William B. Spong, Jr. Invitational Moot Court Tournament at Marshall Wythe School of Law, the Northeast Regionals of the National Moot Court competition, and the Trilateral Moot Court competition with Canadian law schools.
